You describe yourself as a Geek + Designer. Where did that label come from?
I needed a short and sweet tagline for myself because anime + movies + video games + cats + designer just wasn’t going to cut it.
How would you describe your style?
My style is very vector and symmetrical. I like clean lines as well.
What kind of things inspire your work?
Everything inspires me. I love going to the museums, watching anime and movies and going to conventions to get ideas and become inspired.
What are some places your artwork has been showcased?
My shirt designs have been featured on Teefury, Riptapparel, The Yetee, Qwertee and Shirtpunch. I have been in art shows around the US including New York, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
You have a lot artwork inspired by video games. Are you yourself a gamer?
I am a gamer and have been since I was little. I really love survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I was big into Halo and Call of Duty for while and have played many of the Final Fantasy games.
I have also read that you’re into cosplay, how long have you been into that?
I have been into it for about 5 years now. I found photos of people cosplaying online and wanted to try it. I had a friend starting to get into it as well so we just decided to start at a local convention. I was an Edo period priestess from Japan, like Kikyo from Inuyasha.
Have you ever dressed as a character from a video game?
I have done Lara Croft and Starkiller from the Force Unleashed and I am working on the Kid from Bastion.
What are your other interests?
I am big into TV series like Game of Thrones, Merlin and Doctor Who. I watch a lot of anime and enjoy gardening and crafting. Aliens is one of my favorite movies and I push my cat named Koopa in a pet stroller around our neighborhood.
I also noticed that you’re a fan of movies like My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke. Could you also tell us a little bit about your love for Miyazaki and his films?
I didn’t see any of Miyazaki’s films until high school, but when I did I fell in love. The artwork and worlds they take you to are so incredible and fun that it is hard not to love them. Each story teaches you something meaningful too.
